They then set out “his creed,” saying: “This is the creed of the Sunnah, dictated by Shaykh ʿAdī.” This “creed” is copied word for word from Kitāb al-Tabsira by Shaykh Abū al-Faraj al-Maqdisī. However, they omitted the names of those who held opposing views and their statements, while retaining the evidence he cited. They also added statements concerning Yazīd and others that Shaykh Abū al-Faraj never made. It also contains fabricated hadiths.

At its conclusion he says:

“This, then, is our creed. What we have transmitted from our shaykhs was transmitted by Gabriel from Allah, by the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, from Gabriel, and by the Companions from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.”

The same people whom al-Lālakā’ī named at the beginning of his book Sharh Usūl al-Sunnah are named here. They also claimed that Shaykh ʿAdī dictated this from memory and ordered it to be written down. They transmitted it as something heard directly from Shaykh Hasan ibn ʿAdī ibn Abī al-Barakāt, who had heard it from his father, ʿAdī ibn Abī al-Barakāt ibn Sakhr ibn Musāfir, who is ʿAdī.
