and I know of no one who has undertaken these conditions, beyond those stipulated by Allah and His Messenger, and fulfilled them. Rather, these are words they utter when overwhelmed by spiritual emotion, but which ultimately have no substance. The most fortunate are those who fulfil what Allah and His Messenger have made obligatory—let alone impose additional obligations upon themselves.
