Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, were they? They also claim that when Allah, glorified and exalted be He, took His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the heavenly ascent, He revealed to him a hundred thousand secrets and commanded him not to disclose them to any human being.

When he descended to earth, he found the people of the Suffa discussing them. He said, “My Lord, I have not disclosed this secret to anyone!” Allah then revealed to him: “They were witnesses between Me and you.” Is any of this authentic?

He answered:

Praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds. All these hadiths are fabricated lies; let their fabricator take his seat in the Fire. All Muslim scholars—those with expert knowledge and others alike—agree that they are lies and inventions, none of which has any basis. Indeed, whoever believes all these hadiths to be authentic is a disbeliever who must be called upon to repent. If he repents, well and good; otherwise, he is to be put to death. None of these hadiths has any basis whatsoever. They are not found in any book, nor has anyone who knows Allah and His Messenger ever transmitted them.

As for the first hadith, the statement:

“I am from Allah, and the believers are from me,”

this wording is not known to have been transmitted from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. However, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to ʿAlī:

“You are from me, and I am from you.”

Likewise, Allah, glorified be He, said:

“You are of one another.”
