and the Ismailis, the Qarmatians, the dualist Bātinīs, the Hākimīs, and others—errors contrary to the religion of Islam. What they attribute to Alī ibn Abī Tālib, Jaʿfar al-Sādiq, or other members of the Prophet’s household—such as al-Bitāqa, al-Haft, al-Jadwal, al-Jafr, Malhamat Ibn Andab, and other such writings—consists of fabricated lies, as all knowledgeable authorities agree. All of this is false.

The family of Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is connected to him through lineage and kinship, while the righteous friends of Allah, both within his family and outside it, are connected to him through loyalty and adherence to his example. Consequently, many who oppose his religion, his revealed law, and his Sunnah have taken to disguising and embellishing their falsehoods through fabrications attributed to his household and to those loyal to him who follow his example.

Many people also go to excess concerning members of either group, to the point of taking them as gods or giving what is attributed to them precedence over the Prophet’s revealed law and Sunnah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. They even contradict the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger, and the consensus of the virtuous early generations, both from his household and from those loyal to him who followed his example. This is widespread among the people of misguidance.
