And this applies only to those who do good deeds for Allah’s sake. As the Most High says:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah,”
and
“seeking Allah’s pleasure,”
and
“seeking the Face of his Lord.”
This applies to believers. Although Allah rewards a disbeliever for his good deeds with provision in this world and may lessen his punishment in the Hereafter—as He lessened Abū Tālib’s punishment because of his kindness to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and through the Prophet’s intercession—no disbeliever has been promised this multiplication of reward for his good deeds. Another hadith explicitly qualifies this as applying to a Muslim whose Islam is sound.
And Allah, glorified is He, knows best. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds. May Allah bless our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions, and grant them peace.
