“If We let man taste mercy from Us and then withdraw it from him, he becomes despairing and ungrateful. But if We let him taste prosperity after adversity has touched him, he will surely say, ‘My troubles have left me.’ Indeed, he is exultant and boastful—except those who are patient and do righteous deeds.”

“And you love wealth with an immense love.”

“Indeed, man is ungrateful to his Lord, and he himself bears witness to that. And indeed, he is intense in his love of wealth.”

“And do not despair of relief from Allah. Indeed, none despair of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people.”

And He says:

“And who despairs of his Lord’s mercy except those who are astray?”

And He says:

“That thought of yours which you held about your Lord has ruined you, so you have become among the losers.”

“Rather, you thought that the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and that was made appealing in your hearts. You entertained evil thoughts and were a people doomed to ruin.”

“Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them of His bounty?”

And He says:

“And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”

And He says:

“And they feel no resentment in their hearts over what others have been given.”

“Do not take as confidants those outside your ranks. They spare no effort to harm you and wish to see you suffer. Hatred has already become apparent from their mouths, but what their hearts conceal is greater. We have made the signs clear to you, if you will use reason. Here you are, loving them, while they do not love you.”
