Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

He then denied in it that the threat of punishment applies to any of Allah’s servants against whom the sentence of punishment has become due. Does one who believes him in this become a disbeliever, or not? And does one who approves of this statement of his become a disbeliever, or not? Does a sane adult who hears it incur sin if he does not reject it with his tongue or in his heart, or not? Give us a clear and explicit ruling, in keeping with the covenant Allah took requiring clarification. Neglect has harmed the weak and the ignorant. Allah is the One whose help we seek, and upon Him we rely to hasten exemplary punishment upon the heretics, so that matters may be set right and the root of misguidance eradicated.

He replied:

All praise is due to Allah.

Every one of these reprehensible statements quoted above constitutes disbelief, beyond dispute among the adherents of the religions—Muslims, Jews and Christians—let alone its being disbelief under the law of Islam.

For the statement:

“Adam is to the Real, Most High, what the pupil, through which sight occurs, is to the eye”

entails that Adam is a part and portion of the Real—exalted and holy is He—and that he is the finest of His parts and portions. This is the true nature of these people’s doctrine, as is well known from their statements.

The second statement agrees with this, namely:

“The Real, declared beyond all likeness, is creation, described in terms of likeness.”

Hence, he continues that passage by saying:

“Thus, the Creator is the created, and the created is the Creator. All of this comes from a single reality. No, rather, it is that single reality, and it is the many realities.

‘Consider, then, what you think.’

‘O my father, do as you are commanded.’

The son is identical to his father, so he did not see that he was slaughtering
