And “sometimes” it varies according to the rank of a given category of worship: for men, jihad is better than Hajj, whereas for women, their jihad is Hajj. For a married woman, obedience to her husband takes precedence over obedience to her parents, unlike an unmarried woman, who is commanded to obey her parents.
“Sometimes” it varies according to a person’s ability or inability: the acts of worship he can perform are better for him than those he cannot, even if the latter belong to a superior category. This is a broad subject in which many people go to extremes and follow their desires. Some people find that a particular deed is better for them because it suits them, benefits their hearts more, and helps them obey their Lord more fully; they then want to make it the best deed for everyone and instruct others to do likewise.
Allah sent Muhammad with the Book and wisdom, making him a mercy and a guide to His servants, instructing each person to do what is best for him. A Muslim must therefore sincerely seek the good of fellow Muslims, desiring for each person what is best for him.
This makes it clear to you that, for some people, the voluntary pursuit of knowledge is best; for others, voluntary jihad is best; and for others, voluntary acts of worship
