relief from Allah, feeling secure against Allah’s devising, being distraught when calamities strike, boasting and becoming arrogant when blessed, neglecting Allah’s obligations, transgressing His limits, violating what He has made inviolable, fearing created beings rather than the Creator, placing hope in created beings rather than the Creator, relying upon created beings rather than the Creator, acting to be seen and praised by others, opposing the Quran and Sunnah, obeying created beings in disobedience to the Creator, partisan zeal in support of falsehood, mocking Allah’s signs, denying the truth, and concealing knowledge or testimony that must be disclosed.
Among “the deeds of the people of Hell” are sorcery, mistreating one’s parents, unlawfully killing a soul whose life Allah has made inviolable, consuming an orphan’s wealth, consuming usury, fleeing the battlefield, and accusing chaste, unsuspecting believing women of unchastity.
It is not possible to detail “these two categories” exhaustively. However, all “the deeds of the people of Paradise” fall under obedience to Allah and His Messenger, and all “the deeds of the people of Hell” fall under disobedience to Allah and His Messenger:
“Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. That is the great triumph.”
“And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits, He will admit him into a Fire, abiding therein forever, and he will have a humiliating punishment.”
And Allah knows best.
