and He said:
“If the hypocrites, those in whose hearts is disease, and those who spread alarming rumours in Medina do not desist, We will surely stir you up against them; then they will remain your neighbours there only a little while.”
And He said:
“And so that those given the Scripture and the believers may not doubt, and so that those in whose hearts is disease and the disbelievers may say, ‘What does Allah intend by this as an example?’”
And He, Most High, said:
“There has come to you an admonition from your Lord, a healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.”
And He said:
“We send down of the Quran that which is a healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrongdoers in loss.”
And He said:
“And heal the hearts of a believing people”
“And remove the rage from their hearts.”
“Illness of the body” is the opposite of its health and soundness. It is a disorder within the body that impairs its perception and natural functioning. Its perception may disappear, as in blindness and deafness, or it may perceive things other than as they really are: something sweet may taste bitter, or it may imagine things that have no external reality. As for the impairment of its natural functioning, its digestive capacity may weaken, or it may develop an aversion to the foods it needs and a liking for things that harm it. It experiences pain accordingly.
Despite this illness, however, the body has neither died nor perished. Rather, it retains, in general, some capacity to perceive voluntary movement. This gives rise to pain in the body, owing to a disorder of either quantity or quality. The first involves either a deficiency of substance, in which case nourishment is needed, or an excess of it
