Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

And in another hadith:

“Whoever loves for Allah’s sake, hates for Allah’s sake, gives for Allah’s sake, and withholds for Allah’s sake has perfected his faith.”

Many who claim to love Allah are further than others from following the Sunnah, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and striving in Allah’s cause. Yet they claim that their approach is more perfect in the path of love than any other, alleging that the path of love for Allah involves neither protective jealousy nor anger for Allah’s sake. This contradicts what the Book and the Sunnah teach. Hence the transmitted hadith:

“Allah Most High will say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Where are those who love one another for the sake of My majesty? Today I shall shade them in My shade, on the day when there is no shade but Mine.’”

The words “Where are those who love one another for the sake of Allah’s majesty?” draw attention to the reverence and veneration for Allah in their hearts, alongside their mutual love for His sake. Through this, they observe His limits, unlike those who fail to observe His limits because of the weakness of faith in their hearts. These are the people described in the hadith:

“My love is assured to those who love one another for My sake; My love is assured to those who sit together for My sake; My love is assured to those who visit one another for My sake; and My love is assured to those who give generously to one another for My sake.”

There are many hadiths concerning those who love one another for Allah’s sake. In the two Sahīh collections, Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, reports that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Seven will be shaded by Allah in His shade on the day when there is no shade but His: a just ruler; a young man who grew up worshipping Allah; a man whose heart remains attached to the mosque from the time he leaves it until he returns; two men who love one another for Allah’s sake, meeting and parting on that basis; a man who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand spends; a man who remembers Allah in solitude and whose eyes overflow with tears; and a man who was solicited by a woman
