I have already written a summary of “logic” as translated into Arabic, which the Arabs transmitted from the Greeks and rendered into Arabic in both wording and meaning. They refined its wording and made its meanings precise. It is attributed to Aristotle the Greek, whom his followers among the Sabaean philosophers who introduced religious innovations call “the First Teacher,” because he established the disciplines they study: logic, natural philosophy, and metaphysics.
When these disciplines reached the Muslims and their books were translated into Arabic, alongside works on medicine, arithmetic, astronomy, and other subjects—with these translations becoming widespread during the reign of the Caliph Abū al-ʿAbbās, known as al-Maʾmūn—the Muslims took them up and refined both their wording and meaning. Yet they contain much falsehood and misguidance.
