and that they warned them of the Last Day. He likewise says:
“Say, ‘Shall We tell you who are the greatest losers in their deeds? Those whose efforts in this worldly life have gone astray’”—up to His words—“Those are the ones who disbelieve in their Lord’s signs and in meeting Him.”
Thus He states that they disbelieved in His signs, which are His message, and in meeting Him, which is the Last Day.
He also states in several places that the message reached all the children of Adam and that the messengers came bearing glad tidings and warnings. He Most High says:
“Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. There is no nation without a warner having come among them.”
He Most High also says:
“Indeed, We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him”—up to His words—“And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.”
He Most High also says:
“We send the messengers only as bearers of glad tidings and warners. Whoever believes and acts righteously will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve. But those who deny Our signs will be afflicted with punishment for their defiance.”
Thus He states that those among the earlier and later generations who believe in the messengers and act righteously will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve. He Most High also says:
“We said, ‘Descend from it, all of you. Then, when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.’”
Similar to this are His words:
“Indeed, those who believe and those who are Jews”—up to His words—“will have their reward with their Lord”—to the end of the verse.
He thus states that those among these groups who believe in Allah and the Last Day are the ones who attain salvation and felicity. In the former verse He mentioned belief in the messengers, and in the latter belief in the Last Day, because the two
