for forty days as a drop of fluid, then becomes a clinging clot for a similar period, then a lump of flesh for a similar period. Then the angel is sent and commanded to record four things. He is told: ‘Write down his provision, his lifespan, his deeds, and whether he will be wretched or blessed.’ Then the spirit is breathed into him.

He said:

‘By Him in whose hand is my soul, one of you may perform the deeds of the people of Paradise until only a cubit separates him from it; then what has been written overtakes him, and he performs the deeds of the people of the Fire and enters it. And one of you may perform the deeds of the people of the Fire until only a cubit separates him from it; then what has been written overtakes him, and he performs the deeds of the people of Paradise and enters it.’”

Unlawful provision is among the things Allah has decreed and the angels have recorded. It falls within Allah’s will and creation. Nevertheless, He has forbidden it and prohibited it, so whoever partakes of it incurs such wrath, censure, and punishment from Him as he deserves. And Allah knows best.

أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا نُطْفَةً ثُمَّ يَكُونُ عَلَقَةً مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ يَكُونُ مُضْغَةً مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ يُبْعَثُ الْمَلَكُ فَيُؤْمَرُ بِأَرْبَعِ كَلِمَاتٍ فَيُقَالُ اُكْتُبْ رِزْقَهُ وَأَجَلَهُ وَعَمَلَهُ وَشَقِيٌّ أَوْ سَعِيدٌ ثُمَّ يُنْفَخُ فِيهِ الرُّوحُ. قَالَ: فَوَاَلَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا إلَّا ذِرَاعٌ فَيَسْبِقُ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابُ فَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيَدْخُلَهَا وَإِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ حَتَّى مَا يَكُونُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهَا إلَّا ذِرَاعٌ فَيَسْبِقُ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابُ فَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَيَدْخُلَهَا} . وَالرِّزْقُ الْحَرَامُ مِمَّا قَدَّرَهُ اللَّهُ وَكَتَبَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَهُوَ مِمَّا دَخَلَ تَحْتَ مَشِيئَةِ اللَّهِ وَخَلْقِهِ وَهُوَ مَعَ ذَلِكَ قَدْ حَرَّمَهُ وَنَهَى عَنْهُ فَلِفَاعِلِهِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَذَمِّهِ وَعُقُوبَتِهِ مَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ - وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
