and affirm the truth of everything they brought, and obey them. As Noah, Sālih, Hūd and Shuʿayb said:
‘Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.’
Thus they directed worship and reverent fear to Allah alone, and obedience to themselves, for obeying them is part of obeying Allah. If someone disbelieved in one prophet while believing in all the others, his faith would not benefit him until he believed in that prophet. Likewise, if he believed in all the revealed Books but disbelieved in one, he would be a disbeliever until he believed in that Book. The same applies to the angels and the Last Day.”
When they heard this from him, they said: “The religion you have described is better than the religion we and these people follow.” Then they left him.
وَنُصَدِّقُهُمْ فِي جَمِيعِ مَا جَاءُوا بِهِ وَنُطِيعُهُمْ. كَمَا قَالَ نُوحٌ؛
وَصَالِحٌ وَهُودٌ وَشُعَيْبٌ:
{أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ}
فَجَعَلُوا الْعِبَادَةَ وَالتَّقْوَى لِلَّهِ وَحْدَهُ؛ وَالطَّاعَةَ لَهُمْ؛ فَإِنَّ طَاعَتَهُمْ مِنْ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ. فَلَوْ كَفَرَ أَحَدٌ بِنَبِيِّ مِنْ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَآمَنَ بِالْجَمِيعِ مَا يَنْفَعُهُ إيمَانُهُ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَ بِذَلِكَ النَّبِيِّ؛
وَكَذَلِكَ لَوْ آمَنَ بِجَمِيعِ الْكُتُبِ وَكَفَرَ بِكِتَابِ كَانَ كَافِرًا حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَ بِذَلِكَ الْكِتَابِ وَكَذَلِكَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالْيَوْمُ الْآخِرُ فَلَمَّا سَمِعُوا ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ قَالُوا:
الدِّينُ الَّذِي ذَكَرْته خَيْرٌ مِنْ الدِّينِ الَّذِي نَحْنُ وَهَؤُلَاءِ عَلَيْهِ. ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ.
