Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

It is also reported in the authentic collection that he said:

“Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bless him ten times.”

Fadāla ibn ‘Ubayd, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, reported:

“The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, heard a man supplicating during his prayer without praising Allah or invoking blessings upon the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said, ‘This man has been hasty.’ Then he called him and said to him—or to someone else—‘When one of you prays, let him begin by praising his Lord, then invoke blessings upon the Prophet, and then supplicate for whatever he wishes.’”

Reported by Ahmad, Abū Dāwūd—whose wording this is—al-Tirmidhī and al-Nasā’ī. Al-Tirmidhī said: “An authentic hadith.”

In Sahīh Muslim, ‘Abd Allāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās reported that he heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say:

“When you hear the caller to prayer, repeat what he says, then invoke blessings upon me. Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bless him ten times. Then ask Allah to grant me al-wasīla, for it is a rank in Paradise befitting only one of Allah’s servants, and I hope to be that servant. Whoever asks Allah to grant me al-wasīla will be entitled to intercession.”

In the Sunan collections of Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasā’ī, he also reported:

“A man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, those who give the call to prayer surpass us.’ The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Repeat what they say. Then, when you have finished, ask, and you will be given what you ask for.’”

In the Musnad, Jābir ibn ‘Abd Allāh said:

“Whoever says, when the caller gives the call, ‘O Allah, Lord of this enduring call and beneficial prayer, send blessings upon Muhammad and be pleased with him with a pleasure never followed by displeasure,’ Allah will answer his supplication?”

Anas ibn Mālik reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Supplication between the call to prayer and the call announcing its commencement is not rejected.”

Reported by Ahmad, Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī and al-Nasā’ī. Al-Tirmidhī said: “A sound hadith.”
