The sum of this is that if you yourself do not know what is best for you, cannot secure it, and do not desire it as you should, then other people are even less likely to know what is best for you, to be able to secure it, or to desire it for you. Allah—glory be to Him—is the One who knows while you do not, who has power while you do not, and who grants you from His immense bounty, as expressed in the hadith of istikhāra:
“O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and I ask You to grant me ability through Your power, and I ask You of Your immense bounty. For You have power and I do not; You know and I do not; and You are the Knower of all that is unseen.”
{اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ؛ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ؛ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ؛ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ؛ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ؛ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ}
