The terms “disbelief” and “hypocrisy” also fall into this category. When disbelief is mentioned on its own in warnings concerning the Hereafter, it includes the hypocrites, as in His words:
“Whoever rejects faith—his deeds have become worthless, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.”
And His words:
“Whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His Books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly strayed far astray.”
And His words:
“None will burn in it except the most wretched, who denied and turned away.”
And His words:
“Whenever a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, ‘Did no warner come to you?’ They will say, ‘Yes, a warner did come to us, but we denied him and said, “Allah has revealed nothing; you are only in great error.”’”
And His words:
“Those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates will be opened, and its keepers will say to them, ‘Did messengers from among yourselves not come to you, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?’ They will say, ‘Yes, but the decree of punishment has come into effect against the disbelievers.’ It will be said, ‘Enter the gates of Hell, to abide therein forever.’ How evil is the abode of the arrogant!”
And His words:
“Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or denies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not in Hell an abode for the disbelievers?”
And His words:
“Whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a life of hardship, and We will raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection. He will say, ‘My Lord, why have You raised me blind when I used to see?’ He will say, ‘Just as Our signs came to you and you forgot them, so today you will be forgotten.’ Thus do We recompense whoever transgresses and does not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more lasting.”
And His words:
