Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

And in another hadith, also recorded in Sahīh Muslim:

“Whoever strives against them with his hand is a believer; whoever strives against them with his tongue is a believer; and whoever strives against them with his heart is a believer. Beyond that, there is not a mustard seed’s weight of faith.”

Thus, it is clear that if the heart does not hate what Allah hates, it contains none of the faith for which one merits reward.

His words “of faith” refer to this faith—faith in its unqualified sense. That is, beyond these three, there is nothing that constitutes faith, not even a mustard seed’s weight. The meaning is: this is the furthest limit of faith; beyond this, there is no further degree of faith. He does not mean that whoever fails to do this has no faith left at all. Rather, the wording of the hadith indicates only the former meaning.
