Volume Seven
The Book of Faith

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet.

Shaykh al-Islām Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah bless his resting place—said:

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Praise be to Allah. We seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from our evil deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can lead astray; and whoever He leads astray, none can guide. We bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without partner, and we bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah bestow blessings and abundant peace upon him and his family.

Know that “faith and Islam” together encompass the whole religion. There has been much discussion, disagreement, and confusion concerning “the true nature of faith and Islam.” Volumes have been written on the subject, and disagreement over it has existed among the various groups ever since the Kharijites emerged.

الْجُزْءُ الْسَابِعُ كِتَابُ الْإِيمَانِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَحْدَهُ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى مَنْ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدَهُ. قَالَ شَيْخُ الْإِسْلَامِ: أَحْمَد ابْنُ تَيْمِيَّة - طَيَّبَ اللَّهُ ثَرَاهُ -: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ نَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَنَعُوذُ بِاَللَّهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللَّهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْهُ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا. اعْلَمْ أَنَّ " الْإِيمَانَ وَالْإِسْلَامَ " يَجْتَمِعُ فِيهِمَا الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ وَقَدْ كَثُرَ كَلَامُ النَّاسِ فِي " حَقِيقَةِ الْإِيمَانِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ " وَنِزَاعُهُمْ وَاضْطِرَابُهُمْ؛ وَقَدْ صُنِّفَتْ فِي ذَلِكَ مُجَلَّدَاتٌ؛ وَالنِّزَاعُ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ حِينِ خَرَجَتْ الْخَوَارِجُ بَيْنَ عَامَّةِ الطَّوَائِفِ.
