the created beings—whether a prophet or an angel—the right to be sworn by, relied upon, turned to in longing, feared, or regarded with reverent fear.
Allah Most High says:
“Say, ‘Call upon those whom you claim to be gods besides Allah. They possess not an atom’s weight in the heavens or on earth, nor do they have any share in either, nor does He have any helper among them.’”
“Intercession is of no avail with Him except for those to whom He gives permission.”
Thus, He—glory be to Him—has warned those who invoke anything besides Allah, making clear that these beings possess nothing alongside Allah, have no share in His dominion, and that He has no assistant or helper among created beings.
He has thereby severed the hearts’ attachment to created beings in longing, fear, worship, and seeking help. He has left only intercession, which is real; but Allah Most High says:
“Intercession is of no avail with Him except for those to whom He gives permission.”
The authentic hadiths concerning intercession on the Day of Resurrection likewise indicate this:
“When people come to Adam and to the messengers of firm resolve—Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus son of Mary—each directs them to the next, until they come to the Messiah. He says to them, ‘Go to Muhammad, a servant whose past and future sins Allah has forgiven.’
“He, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: ‘They will then come to me, and I will go to my Lord. When I see Him, I will fall down in prostration and praise my Lord with words of praise that He will inspire me to utter, which I cannot now express. Then I will be told, “O Muhammad, raise your head. Speak, and you will be heard; ask, and you will be given; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.”’ He said: ‘He will then set a limit for me, and I will admit them to Paradise.’”
He then related the remainder of the account. Thus, the Messiah made clear that Muhammad is the intercessor whose intercession is accepted because he is a servant whose past and future sins Allah has forgiven. And Muhammad, Allah’s servant and Messenger, explained—being the best of creation and the intercessor of highest standing
