This is an authentic hadith. It states that the disbeliever and the hypocrite meet their Lord.
It may be said that its apparent meaning is that all creation will see their Lord, and Allah will meet each servant at that point. However, Ibn Khuzaymah, Judge Abū Ya‘lā and others said that the “meeting” mentioned in the report is distinct from seeing Him; it does not mean that Allah showed Himself to the one to whom He addressed these words. These scholars say that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stated that the believers would see their Lord, since they asked, “Will we see our Lord?” The pronoun refers to the believers. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, then mentioned that the disbeliever would meet his Lord, who would rebuke him. After that, each community would follow what it used to worship, and only thereafter would the believers see Him.
This is clarified by the report in the two Sahīh collections, narrated by al-Zuhrī from Sa‘īd ibn al-Musayyib and ‘Atā’ ibn Yazīd, from Abū Hurayrah:
The people asked, “O Messenger of Allah, will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?”
He said, “Do you have any doubt about seeing the moon on the night when it is full, with no clouds obscuring it?”
They replied, “No, O Messenger of Allah.”
He said, “Do you have any doubt about seeing the sun when no clouds obscure it?”
They replied, “No.”
He said, “You will see Him just as clearly. The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, and He will say, ‘Whoever used to worship anything, let him follow it.’ Some will follow the sun, some will follow the moon, and some will follow false objects of worship. This community will remain, including its hypocrites. Allah will come to them and say, ‘I am your Lord.’ They will reply, ‘We will remain here until our Lord comes to us. When our Lord comes, we will recognize Him.’ Then Allah will come to them in His form which they recognize and say, ‘I am your Lord.’ They will reply, ‘You are our Lord,’ and recognize Him. The bridge will be laid across the midst of Hell, and I will be the first of the messengers to cross with my community; and no
