Allah grants it to him, stores up its equivalent for him on the Day of Resurrection, or averts an equivalent evil from him. Friday is the best of days in Allah’s sight, and the people of Paradise call it the Day of Increase.”

I asked, “O Gabriel, what is the Day of Increase?”

He said, “In Paradise there is a spacious valley whose soil is white musk. Allah descends to it every Friday, and His seat is set in place. Then pulpits of light are brought and placed behind it, and the angels gather around it. Seats of gold are then brought and set in place. The prophets, the foremost in truthfulness, the martyrs, and the believers who dwell in the chambers then come and sit down. Allah smiles at them and says, ‘Ask.’ They say, ‘We ask for Your good pleasure.’ He says, ‘I am pleased with you, so ask.’ They ask for what they desire, and He grants them what they request many times over. He also grants them what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever imagined.

“Then He says, ‘Have I not fulfilled My promise to you and perfected My favor upon you? This is the abode of My honor.’ Then they return to their chambers, coming back every Friday.”

I asked, “O Gabriel, what are their chambers made of?”

He said, “Of a white pearl, a red ruby, and a green chrysolite, with their doors fashioned from the same material. Their spouses are within them, and their rivers flow continually.”’”

Abū Ya‘lā al-Mawsilī narrated a similar report in his (Musnad), from Shaybān ibn Farrūkh, from al-Sa‘q ibn Hazn, from ‘Alī ibn al-Hakam al-Bunānī, from Anas. I did not have its wording at hand.

Al-Dāraqutnī also narrated it through ‘Abd Allāh ibn al-Hamīm al-Rāzī: And ‘Amr ibn Qays narrated to us, from Abū Shabībah, from ‘Āsim, from ‘Uthmān ibn ‘Umayr Abū al-Yaqzān, from Anas. He also narrated it through Ishāq ibn Sulaymān al-Rāzī: ‘Anbasah ibn Sa‘īd narrated to us, from ‘Uthmān ibn ‘Umayr, from Anas ibn Mālik, in wording similar to the preceding account, without mentioning the additional wording.
