Section: A Noble Principle
“All the scriptural and rational proofs invoked by one who upholds falsehood point only to the truth; they do not support his position.”
This is obvious and known to everyone, for sound proof points only to truth, not falsehood. What remains is to examine individual proofs and explain how they do not support falsehood but instead support the truth. This provides a detailed exposition of that general principle.
The point here, however, is something else: the very proof invoked by someone who upholds falsehood, when given its due consideration, when the truth and falsehood within it are distinguished, and when its implications are clarified, turns out to demonstrate the falsity of his position on the very issue for which he invoked it. This is remarkable. I have reflected upon as many scriptural proofs as Allah willed, and have found this to be the case.
The aim here is to show that the same holds for the “rational proofs” upon which they rely concerning foundational matters, the universal sciences, and theology. As for “scriptural proofs,” I have already mentioned in this connection
