Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

In Sahīh Muslim, the hadith teaching how to pray states:

“When the imam says, ‘Allah hears whoever praises Him,’ say, ‘O Allah, our Lord, to You belongs all praise.’ Allah will hear you, for Allah has said through His Prophet, ‘Allah hears whoever praises Him.’”

In His words, “Allah hears whoever praises Him,” the consequence follows the condition. The verb in “Allah will hear you” is in the jussive, with a vowel added to avoid two consecutive vowelless consonants. This entails that He hears after you praise Him.
