As for “those who deny prophethood” and their assertion that people are unworthy of Allah sending them a messenger, just as people of lowly standing are unworthy of a ruler sending them a messenger—this betrays clear ignorance concerning both the creature and the Creator. Among the things for which kings are most highly praised is personally addressing the weakest of their subjects, let alone sending them a messenger.
As for the Creator, glorified is He, He is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her child, and His power accompanies His perfect mercy. Since His power and mercy are perfect, what could prevent Him from sending them a messenger as a mercy from Him? As He, Most High, says:
“We have sent you only as a mercy to the worlds.”
And the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“I am but a mercy bestowed as a gift.”
Moreover, this is part of His kindness to creation: teaching and guiding them, and explaining what benefits them and what harms them. As He, Most High, says:
“Allah has certainly bestowed a great favor upon the believers by sending among them a Messenger from among themselves, reciting His verses to them, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom.”
Thus He, Most High, has made clear that this is among His favors to His believing servants.
