The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to the man who, together with his wife, had given their guest preference over themselves:

“Allah has indeed marveled.”

In another wording in the Sahīh:

“Allah indeed laughed tonight at what the two of you did last night.”

He also said:

“Indeed, the Lord marvels at His servant when he says, ‘My Lord, forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.’ He says, ‘My servant knows that none forgives sins but Me.’”

And he said:

“Your Lord marvels at a young man free of youthful waywardness.”

And he said:

“Your Lord marvels at a shepherd atop a mountain crag who gives the call to prayer and the call to begin it. Allah then says, ‘Look at My servant.’”

Or words to that effect. There are other similar reports.
