Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

As for His manifesting Himself to the eyes of His servants, this is acknowledged by the scholastic theologians who affirm the divine attributes, such as the Ash'arīs and Kullābīs. Those among them who deny that the Lord is above the Throne say that this occurs through His creating perception in their eyes and removing the veils that prevent them from seeing.

Ahl al-Sunnah affirm this, and also affirm that He removes veils separate from the servant until the servant sees his Lord, as stated in the authentic hadiths.
