Abī Dhi’b, from al-Maqburī, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Do not make my grave a place of recurring gatherings, and do not turn your homes into graves. Send blessings upon me wherever you may be, for your blessings reach me.”
Abū Dāwūd also narrated it.
Judge Iyād said that Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Whoever sends blessings upon me at my grave, I hear him; whoever sends blessings upon me from afar, I am informed of it.”
This was narrated by Muhammad ibn Marwān al-Suddī, from al-A‘mash, from Abū Sālih, from Abū Hurayrah. This is al-Suddī the Younger, who is not a trustworthy narrator, and this is not one of al-A‘mash’s hadiths.
Abū Ya‘lā al-Mawsilī narrated in his Musnad from Mūsā ibn Muhammad ibn Hibbān, from Abū Bakr al-Hanafī, who said: Abd Allāh ibn Nāfi‘ narrated to us: al-Alā’ ibn Abd al-Rahmān narrated to us: I heard al-Hasan ibn Ali say: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Pray in your homes, and do not turn them into graves. Do not make my house a place of recurring gatherings. Send blessings and greetings of peace upon me, for your blessings and greetings of peace reach me.”
Sa‘īd ibn Mansūr narrated in his Sunan that Abd Allāh ibn Hasan ibn Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abī Tālib saw a man frequently visiting the grave of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said to him: “O man, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
‘Do not make my grave a place of recurring gatherings. Send blessings upon me wherever you may be, for your blessings reach me.’
Thus, in this respect, you and a man in al-Andalus are equal.”
A report conveying this meaning was also narrated from Ali ibn al-Husayn, Zayn al-Ābidīn, from his father, from Ali ibn Abī Tālib. The hadith scholar Abū Abd Allāh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wāhid al-Maqdisī included it in his selected collection, which
