The hadith of Ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, is even more emphatic. The following wording is Muslim’s, reporting that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Allah will roll up the heavens on the Day of Resurrection, then take them in His right hand. Then He will roll up the earths in His left hand and say: ‘I am the King! Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?’”

Muslim narrated it from Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah. ‘Uthmān ibn Abī Shaybah also narrated it, with the wording:

“Allah will roll up the heavens on the Day of Resurrection, then take them in His right hand and say: ‘I am the King! Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?’ Then He will roll up the earths, take them in His left hand, and say: ‘I am the King! Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?’”

In a hadith transmitted by ‘Abdullāh ibn Miqsam, ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar said:

“I saw the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on the pulpit, saying: ‘The Compeller takes hold of His heavens and His earth’—he clenched his hand, then began closing and opening it—‘and says: “I am the Most Merciful! I am the King! I am the All-Holy! I am the Source of Peace! I am the Giver of Security! I am the Guardian! I am the Almighty! I am the Compeller! I am the Supremely Great! I am the One who brought this world into being when it was nothing! I am the One who will bring it back! Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?”’ The Messenger of Allah swayed to his right and to his left, until I saw the pulpit moving from its very base, and I wondered: ‘Will it collapse beneath the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?’”

This was narrated by Ibn Mandah, Ibn Khuzaymah, ‘Uthmān ibn Sa‘īd al-Dārimī, Sa‘īd ibn Mansūr, and other leading hadith scholars, renowned for their mastery, critical discernment, and expertise. So if He, glorified be He, rolls up all the heavens in His right hand, and such is their magnitude in relation to Him—as
