in numbers that none but Allah can count. Allah says to each of them what He says to this person, just as He calls them all to account in this manner. Thus, in a single hour, He addresses each one with the words He says to him. Likewise, He hears all their speech, despite their different languages and varied needs. He hears their supplications and answers them, and He hears everything they say with complete knowledge and encompassing awareness. Hearing one does not distract Him from hearing another; their requests do not confuse Him, nor does He weary of those who persistently beseech Him. For He, glorified be He, is the One who created all this and provides for it all. He delivers nourishment to every part of the body in the quantity and form appropriate to it, and likewise to crops.

His Footstool encompasses the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not burden Him. If creating and sustaining all this in such detail does not burden Him, how could knowing it, hearing their speech, seeing their deeds, or answering their supplications burden Him? Glorified and exalted is He, far above what the wrongdoers say!

“They have not given Allah His due honour. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grasp, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand. Glorified and exalted is He above what they associate with Him!”

This verse is among those that demonstrate these people’s error, for He, glorified and exalted, says:

“They have not given Allah His due honour. On the Day of Resurrection, the whole earth will be in His grasp, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand. Glorified and exalted is He above what they associate with Him!”

It is established in the two Sahīh collections, in a hadith narrated by Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Allah will grasp the earth and roll up the heavens in His right hand, and He will say: ‘I am the King! I am the King! Where are the kings of the earth?’”
