‘Islam is my religion.’ They ask him, ‘Who is this man who was sent among you?’ He replies, ‘He is the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.’ They ask him, ‘What is the basis of your knowledge?’ He replies, ‘I read the Book of Allah, believed in it, and affirmed its truth.’ Then a caller calls out from heaven, ‘My servant has spoken the truth. Furnish his resting place with furnishings from Paradise, clothe him in garments from Paradise, and open a door to Paradise for him.’”
He continued:
“Its refreshing breeze and fragrance reach him, and his grave is made spacious for him as far as his sight can reach.”
He continued:
“Then a man comes to him with a handsome face, fine clothes, and a pleasant fragrance. He says, ‘Receive glad tidings of what will delight you! This is the day you were promised.’ He asks him, ‘Who are you? Yours is a face that brings good.’ He replies, ‘I am your righteous deeds.’ Then he says, ‘My Lord, bring about the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’”
He also said:
“When a disbelieving servant is leaving this world and approaching the Hereafter, angels with black faces descend to him from heaven, bringing sackcloth. They sit as far from him as his sight can reach. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, saying, ‘O wicked soul, come out to displeasure from Allah and wrath.’”
He continued:
“It scatters throughout his body, and he pulls it out as a roasting spit is pulled from wet wool. He takes it, and once he has taken it, they do not leave it in his hand even for the blink of an eye before placing it in that sackcloth. From it comes a stench like the foulest smell of a carcass ever found on the face of the earth. They ascend with it, and whenever they pass a company of angels, the angels ask, ‘What is this wicked soul?’ They reply, ‘So-and-so, son of so-and-so,’ using the ugliest names by which he was known in this world, until it is brought to the lowest heaven. Permission is sought for it to be opened for him, but it is not opened for him.”
Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, recited:
“The gates of heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter
