The point here is this: the person who refused to acknowledge that the Eternal, Necessary Existent exists and possesses attributes of perfection—lest this entail the likeness to creation and corporeality he mentioned, and who took the negation of this supposed consequence as proof for denying what he claimed entailed it—ultimately fell into the very thing he sought to escape: making the Necessary Existent a body resembling other things. Moreover, he ascribed to it attributes of imperfection from which the Lord must be declared free, while also denying the Creator, majestic is His glory. Thus, besides committing disbelief greater than that of polytheists in general—for they acknowledged the Maker despite worshipping others besides Him—he proved to be among the most ignorant of Adam’s descendants, the most unsound in intellect and reasoning, and the most inconsistent.

This is how Allah deals with those who deviate concerning His names and signs while laying claim to rational inquiry, reason, proof, and inference, like Pharaoh and his followers. Allah Most High said:

“And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs and clear authority”

“To Pharaoh, Hāmān, and Qārūn, but they said, ‘A magician, a liar.’”

“Then, when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, ‘Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive.’ But the plotting of the disbelievers is nothing but futile.”

“And Pharaoh said, ‘Let me kill Moses, and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or cause corruption to appear in the land.’”

“And Moses said, ‘Indeed, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant person who does not believe in the Day of Reckoning.’”

“And a believing man from Pharaoh’s household, who concealed his faith, said, ‘Would you kill a man merely for saying, “My Lord is Allah,” when he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is lying, his lie will be to his own detriment; but if he is truthful, some of what he threatens you with will befall you. Indeed, Allah does not guide anyone who is a transgressor and a liar.’”

“ O my people, sovereignty is yours today, and you hold sway
