then Allah has no need of you. He does not approve of disbelief for His servants, but if you are grateful, He approves of it for you.”
And He, Most High, says:
“Whoever is grateful is grateful only for his own benefit; and whoever is ungrateful—surely my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Generous.”
And He, Most High, says in the account of Moses, peace be upon him:
“If you are grateful, I will surely give you more; but if you are ungrateful, My punishment is indeed severe.”
“And Moses said, ‘If you disbelieve—you and everyone on earth together—Allah is indeed Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.’”
And He, Most High, says:
“Do not let those who rush into disbelief grieve you. They will not harm Allah in the least.”
And He, Most High, says:
“Pilgrimage to the House is a duty people owe to Allah—those who are able to make their way to it. And whoever disbelieves—Allah has no need of the worlds.”
He, glorified is He, has explained that He bestows His favour by enabling good deeds. He, Most High, says:
“They regard their acceptance of Islam as a favour to you. Say, ‘Do not regard your acceptance of Islam as a favour to me. Rather, Allah has bestowed His favour upon you by guiding you to faith, if you are truthful.’”
And He, Most High, says:
“Know that the Messenger of Allah is among you. If he were to obey you in many matters, you would fall into hardship. But Allah has endeared faith to you and made it beautiful in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to you. Those are the rightly guided.”
“As a bounty and blessing from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.”
And in the authentic hadith conveying Allah’s words:
“O My servants, you can never harm Me, nor can you ever benefit Me. O My servants, you sin by night and by day, and I forgive all sins and do not mind doing so.
