and their ranks will vary according to their faith and knowledge. If a person has attained faith through which he knows Allah, and someone else presents him with more than he can grasp, he is not to be burdened beyond his capacity. If this would subject him to a trial, one should not relate to him a report that would expose him to such a trial.

This is a principle of great importance in teaching people and addressing them collectively through texts they have all heard, such as the Quran and widely known hadith, even though they differ in their understanding of their meaning.
