and that Allah is One—there is no deity worthy of worship except Him—unique, the One upon whom all depend, who has taken neither a consort nor a child; and that ‘Muhammad is His servant and messenger,’ whom He sent with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religion; and that Paradise is real, Hell is real, the Hour is coming, and Allah will resurrect those in the graves.

And that Allah has risen over His Throne, as He said:

‘The Most Merciful rose over the Throne.’

And that He has a Face, as He said:

‘And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honour.’

And that He has two Hands, without specifying how, as He said:

‘What I created with My two Hands.’

And as He said:

‘Rather, both His Hands are extended; He spends however He wills.’

And that He has two Eyes, without specifying how, as He said:

‘Sailing under Our eyes.’

And that whoever claims that Allah’s names are other than Him is astray.”

He mentioned statements similar to those he had mentioned in his discussion of the sects, until he said:

“We say that Islam is broader than faith, and that not every instance of Islam constitutes faith. We hold as part of our religious belief that Allah turns hearts between two of His Fingers, mighty and majestic is He, and that He, mighty and majestic, places the heavens upon a Finger and the earths upon a Finger, as stated in the authentic report from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.”

He went on to say:

“And faith” consists of words and deeds; it increases and decreases. We accept the authentic reports from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, transmitted by trustworthy narrators, each upright narrator relating from another, until the chain reaches the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

He went on to say:

We affirm all the reports established by the scholars of transmission concerning the descent to the lowest heaven and the Lord’s saying, mighty and majestic is He:

“Is there anyone asking? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness?”

We likewise affirm everything else they have transmitted and established, contrary to what those who deviate and lead others astray have said:
