He went on to say:

“Likewise, His words, Most High:

‘And He is the Subduer, above His servants.’

And His words:

‘The Most Merciful rose over the Throne.’

And His words:

‘Do you feel secure from Him who is in heaven?’

And His words:

‘To Him ascends good speech, and righteous deeds raise it.’

He also said:

‘He directs the affairs from heaven to earth; then they ascend to Him.’

And He said:

‘The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him.’

He said to Jesus:

‘Indeed, I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve’—the verse.

And He said:

‘Rather, Allah raised him to Himself.’

And He said:

‘Indeed, those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him.’

He also mentioned the gods: if there were gods, they would seek a way to the Lord of the Throne, where He is. He said:

‘Say: If there were gods alongside Him, as they claim, they would surely seek a way to the Lord of the Throne.’

That is, they would seek Him. And He said:

‘Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High.’

Abū ‘Abd Allāh said: That will never be abrogated by this. Likewise, His words:

‘He is the One who is God in heaven and God on earth.’

And His words:

‘We are closer to him than his jugular vein.’

And His words:

‘He is Allah in the heavens and on earth; He knows what you conceal and what you reveal.’

And His words:

‘There is no private conversation among three but that He is their fourth’—the verse.

These do not abrogate those, nor do they contradict them. Know that these verses do not mean that Allah intended His presence in His very essence, such that He would be in the lowest of things, move within them as they move, be divided among them according to their dimensions, or depart from them when they perish.
