and the martyrs and the righteous. We must hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and not become divided; enjoin what Allah has commanded—“what is right”—and forbid what He has prohibited—“what is wrong”; and strive for sincerity to Allah in our deeds. This is the religion of “Islam.” Allah Most High says:
“Yes, whoever submits himself to Allah and does good will have his reward with his Lord. No fear will be upon them, nor will they grieve.”
And He Most High says:
“Who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah, does good, and follows the religion of Abraham, upright in faith? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.”
And He Most High says:
“When they commit an indecency, they say, ‘We found our fathers doing this, and Allah commanded us to do it.’ Say, ‘Allah does not command indecency. Do you say about Allah what you do not know?’”
“Say, ‘My Lord has commanded justice. Devote yourselves to Him at every place of prayer, and call upon Him with sincere devotion to Him alone. As He brought you into being, so you will return.’”
“He has guided one group, while another has incurred misguidance. They have taken devils as allies besides Allah, yet think they are rightly guided.”
And He Most High says:
“O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims”—up to His words—“On the Day when some faces will brighten and some faces will darken.”
Ibn ‘Abbās said: “The faces of the people of the Sunnah and the community will brighten, and the faces of the people of religious innovation and division will darken.”
And He Most High says:
“Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects—you have nothing to do with them.”
