Likewise, deliberately singling out any one of them for a curse is not among the deeds of the righteous and virtuous.

It is authentically established that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“Allah has cursed wine, the one who presses it, the one who has it pressed, the one who carries it, the one who serves it, the one who drinks it, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, and the one who consumes its proceeds.”

It is also authentically reported:

“During the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, there was a man called Himār who frequently drank wine. Whenever he was brought before the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he would flog him. On one occasion, he was brought before him to be flogged, and a man said, ‘May Allah curse him! How often he is brought before the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace!’ The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Do not curse him, for he loves Allah and His Messenger.’”

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, thus cursed wine drinkers in general, but forbade cursing an individual believer.

Likewise, we affirm what Allah Most High has said:

“Indeed, those who unjustly consume the property of orphans are only filling their bellies with fire.”

Yet no one should declare that a particular individual is destined for Hell, for he may repent, or Allah may forgive him through good deeds that erase sins, afflictions that expiate them, accepted intercession, or Allah’s pardon, or otherwise.

The same applies to an individual king or anyone else: even if he has committed injustice, that does not warrant our cursing him and declaring him destined for Hell. Whoever engages in this is among the people of innovation and misguidance. How much more so, then, when a man has great good deeds on account of which forgiveness may be hoped for him despite his injustice, as established in Sahīh al-Bukhārī, where Ibn ‘Umar reports that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
