Fourth: some people distinguish between “better” and “superior,” using “better” to mean more beneficial.

Fifth: the hadith indicates that the highest assembly is superior to these people who remember Allah only in this world and in their present condition. They have not yet attained perfection or become fit to surpass the highest assembly. Thus, the highest assembly is better than them in this condition, just as a wise elder is better than children generally, because he then possesses virtues that the children lack. Yet among those children there may be someone who will eventually far surpass him. Our discussion concerns only the ultimate outcome and final state. Let this be carefully considered, for it is a sound answer, if Allah wills.

Allah, glorified is He, knows best the true nature of His creatures and which of them are most excellent, and He is wisest in His governance of them. There is no power nor strength except through Allah. These are the remarks I have been able to set down in the time available, while in haste. Allah is the One whose help is sought, and it is He whom we ask to guide our hearts and direct our tongues and hands aright. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all worlds.
