He—may Allah sanctify his soul and be pleased with him—was also asked:

A craftsman worked for a master craftsman for several years. Upon leaving his service, he said to him, “Settle accounts with me.” The master then beat him, drew up a deed against him, and threatened him with the authorities. Does the master have any rightful claim under that document?

He replied:

If the master drew up a deed against him and he acknowledged its contents under wrongful coercion, his acknowledgment is invalid, and he may not be compelled to fulfill what it contains. His master must settle accounts with him. And Allah knows best.
