He—may Allah Most High have mercy on him—was asked about a ewe that gave birth to a lamb, half dog and half lamb, with the two halves divided lengthwise: “Is it lawful to eat it, or is the lamb side lawful to eat?”
He answered:
Praise be to Allah. No part of it may be eaten, for it is born of a lawful animal and an unlawful one, even if the parts are distinguishable. It may only be eaten after ritual slaughter, and ritual slaughter is not valid for such an animal because of this intermixture. And Allah knows best.
He—may Allah Most High have mercy on him—was asked about a man’s goat that gave birth to a female kid and then died. His wife breastfed the kid: “Is it permissible to eat its meat or drink its milk?”
He answered:
Praise be to Allah. Yes, he may do so.
