the disciples:
“‘Believe in Me and in My messenger.’ They said, ‘We believe; bear witness that we are Muslims.’”
He has also said without qualification:
“Allah bears witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, as do the angels and those endowed with knowledge; He upholds justice. There is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise.”
“Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam.”
And He said:
“Say, ‘We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and what Moses, Jesus, and the prophets were given by their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.’”
“Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.”
If Muslims are, as every rational person agrees, foremost among the adherents of religions in knowledge, reason, justice, and similar qualities—which, in their view, correspond to the influences of Jupiter—while Christians are further removed from these qualities and more given to diversion, play, and what they regard as corresponding to the influences of Venus, then what they have claimed is plainly false.
Thus their predictions remain false and incoherent. Indeed, even the leading philosopher whom they call “the philosopher of Islam,” Ya‘qūb ibn Ishāq al-Kindī, made an astrological calculation for this religion, claiming that it would come to an end in the year 693. Someone then borrowed this from him and presented it as a “derivation” from the letters of words that had appeared through mystical unveiling to one of those who repeated it. They were also supported in this by someone who claimed to have calculated how long this religion would last from the numerical values of the letters found in
