Al-Bukhārī and Muslim narrated from Abū Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“There are three whom Allah will neither speak to nor look at on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and theirs will be a painful punishment: a man who has surplus water in the wilderness but withholds it from a wayfarer; a man who sells another man an item after the afternoon prayer and swears to him by Allah that he bought it for such-and-such a price, so the other believes him, although that is not true; and a man who pledges allegiance to a ruler solely for worldly gain—if the ruler gives him some of it, he keeps his pledge, but if he does not, he fails to keep it.”
