He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked:
About a man whose wife said to him, “You are as forbidden to me as my father and mother.” He said to her, “You are as forbidden to me as my mother and sister.” Does this entail divorce?
He answered:
No divorce results from this. However, if he remains married to her, each of them must offer the expiation for zihār before they have intercourse. This consists of freeing a slave; whoever cannot find one must fast for two consecutive months, and whoever is unable to do so must feed sixty needy people.
