—glorified is He—is above His heavens, upon His Throne, distinct from His creation. Nothing of His Essence is within His creation, and nothing of His creation is within His Essence.
He, Most High, said:
“I will surely crucify you on the trunks of palm trees.”
And He said:
“Travel freely throughout the land.”
And He said:
“They will wander in the land.”
This does not mean that they are inside the palm trees or inside the earth. Rather, the meaning is that He is above the heavens and over them, distinct from created things, just as He stated concerning Himself in His Book: He created the heavens and the earth in six days, then rose over the Throne.
And He said:
“O Jesus, I will take you and raise you to Myself.”
He, Most High, also said:
“The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him.”
And He said:
“Rather, Allah raised him to Himself.”
There are other passages of this kind in the Quran and Sunnah. The answer to this question is set out at length elsewhere.
