of good, whereas Satan’s prompting is a denial of the truth and a threat of evil.”

It is also authentically reported from him in the Sahīh that he said:

“Each of you has been assigned a companion from among the angels and a companion from among the jinn.” They asked, “Even you, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “I too, but Allah has helped me against him, so he commands me only to do good.”

Thus, if the evil deed that a servant intends comes from Satan’s prompting, Satan knows of it. Likewise, if the good deed that a servant intends comes from an angel’s prompting, then that angel knows of it—all the more so. If this angel knows of it, it is possible for the angels who keep watch over the deeds of the children of Adam to know of it as well.
