And in the Musnad, Ibn ‘Umar relates that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“I was sent with the sword before the Hour, so that Allah alone would be worshipped, without any partner. My provision was placed beneath the shade of my spear, and humiliation and abasement were imposed upon those who oppose my command. Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
The polytheists of Quraysh and others—whose polytheism the Quran described, whose blood and property the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, considered lawful to take, whose households he took captive, and whom he declared deserving of the Fire—acknowledged that Allah alone created the heavens and the earth, as He says:
“If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah.’ But most of them do not know.”
He also says:
“If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon, they will surely say, ‘Allah.’ How, then, are they turned away?”
He also says:
“Say, ‘To whom belong the earth and whoever is in it, if you know?’”
“They will say, ‘To Allah.’ Say, ‘Then will you not take heed?’”
“Say, ‘Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the mighty Throne?’”
“They will say, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘Then will you not fear Him?’”
“Say, ‘In whose hand is the dominion of all things, who grants protection while none can grant protection against Him, if you know?’”
“They will say, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘How, then, are you deluded?’”
“Rather, We have brought them the truth, and they are certainly liars.”
“Allah has never taken a son, nor has there ever been any deity alongside Him. Otherwise, each deity would have taken away what it created, and some would have sought supremacy over others. Exalted is Allah above what they attribute to Him!”
The polytheists who set up other deities alongside Him acknowledged that their deities were created beings. Yet they took them as intercessors and sought to draw near to Him by worshipping them, as He, the Most High, says:
“They worship besides Allah what can neither harm nor benefit them, and they say, ‘These are our intercessors with Allah.’ Say, ‘Are you informing Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?’ Exalted is He and far above whatever they associate with Him!”
