He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked about a man who died leaving a paternal uncle (his father’s full brother) and a paternal half-sister: How should the estate be divided?
He replied:
“The sister receives half, and the paternal uncle receives the remainder. This is agreed upon by the Muslims.”
He was asked about a woman who died leaving a daughter, a maternal half-brother, and a paternal uncle’s son: What does each receive?
He replied:
“The daughter receives half, and the paternal uncle’s son receives the remainder. The maternal half-brother receives nothing. However, if he is present when the estate is divided, he ought to be given something. A daughter excludes a maternal half-brother from inheritance according to the schools of all four imams. Allah knows best.”
He—may Allah have mercy on him—was asked about a woman who died leaving a husband, a father, a mother, and two children—a daughter and a son. After her death, her father also died, leaving his father, sister, grandfather, and grandmother.
