His Book, and which His Prophet has made known to his community. No one among Allah’s creation against whom the proof has been established may reject them.” He later said:

“Examples include Allah—glorified is He—informing us that He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing; that He has two hands, as He says:

‘Rather, both His hands are outstretched.’

That He has a right hand, as He says:

‘And the heavens will be folded up in His right hand.’

That He has a Face, as He says:

‘Everything will perish except His Face.’

And:

‘And there will remain the Face of your Lord, full of majesty and honour.’

That He has a foot, as stated in the report:

‘Until the Lord places His foot in it’—meaning Hell.

That He laughs at His believing servant, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning the man killed in Allah’s cause:

‘He met Allah, who was laughing toward him.’

That He descends every night to the lowest heaven, as reported by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him; and that He is not one-eyed, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said when mentioning the Dajjāl:

‘He is one-eyed, but your Lord is not one-eyed.’

That the believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection with their own eyes, just as they see the moon when it is full; and that He has a finger, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

‘There is no heart except that it is between two of the fingers of the Most Merciful.’”

He said:

“Besides what al-Shāfiʿī transmitted, there are hadiths recorded in the authentic collections and the Musnad collections, which the Muslim community has accepted and affirmed as true. These include the hadith concerning the Divine Essence in the authentic collection, and his saying:

‘No person has greater protective jealousy than Allah.’

And his saying:

‘Are you surprised at Saʿd’s protective jealousy? By Allah, my protective jealousy is greater than Saʿd’s, and Allah’s is greater than mine.’

And his saying:

‘No one loves praise more than Allah, and for that reason He has praised Himself. No one has greater protective jealousy than Allah; for that reason He has forbidden
